Kiran Rao is currently basking in the success of her directorial satire-drama Laapataa Ladies. The film was produced by Aamir Khan under his home production banner. Post the success of Laapataa Ladies Rao has expressed her desire to collaborate with Khan once again. She asserted that she likes working with her ex-husband. The satirical comedy-drama is a project created after their divorce.

Laapataa Ladies was Kiran Rao’s second directorial project after Dhobi Ghat in 2011. The film starring Aamir Khan and Prateik Babbar was a flop and post the result Kiran quit the direction. Laapataa Ladies too didn’t perform well at the box office but won a million hearts after its digital release on Netflix. The OTT success of the film boosted Kiran’s confidence to make more such projects. And now she wants to reunite with Aamir Khan to deliver content driven movies. 

During a recent media, Kiran Rao was questioned about working with Aamir Khan once again. Responding to it she said, “We will definitely work together in the future, I don't know in what capacity because I enjoy working with him, you know, he was the producer on this, he found the script. So I'm always keen to work with him again”.

She further added, “Whether Aamir is acting, whether he’ll produce, I don’t know and honestly, I haven’t, I feel like I need to focus on the story first and then it’ll take its own organic journey. So hopefully we will work together again.” 

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has taken a break from acting after Laal Singh Chadha’s debacle. He is now focused on producing some meaningful movies like Laapataa Ladies. His next project is Sitare Zameen Par which is reportedly an official adaptation of the Spanish film Champeons.
