Swara Bhasker got hitched to Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmad in a court marriage in February 2023. A month later, the couple tied the knot in a traditional Indian wedding with festive functions including haldi, mehndi, sangeet, and wedding receptions. The actress faced criticism over marrying a Muslim guy instead of a Hindu. Recently she opened up on her fears of marrying the love of her life Fahad and how she could be accepted in the industry.

In a recent interview on Couple of Things hosted by RJ Anmol and Amrita Rao, Swara Bhasker expressed the fears and challenges she faced after her relationship with Fawad Ahmad became public. Sharing her honest concerns Swaraa revealed that she thought the film fraternity wouldn’t accept her marriage and avoid her from Bollywood parties. 

Talking about her marriage with Fawad Ahmad, she said, “I did not trust myself at all. I always trusted the wrong people, who mostly let me down. There was also age difference. I just thought it was not possible. It was just too much. And it was really shocking for me because I am not someone who would care about ‘Log kya kahenge’. But I was so terrified of what my parents, and friends would say if I got married.”

Addressing her fears of Bollywood, Swara said, "The most shocking thing is that I thought ki agar hum saath ho jaaye toh mujhe ‘Bollywood parties’ mein nahi bulayenge, ya Bollywood Diwali parties mein nahi bulayenge. At one point, I was scared that I wouldn't be invited to Bollywood parties if I got married to Fahad. And I could not understand why, because I was never that person who gave importance to such things. On one hand, I was raising slogans about secularism, but on the other hand, such things were running on my mind."

She further shared their reaction after realizing they were in love, "The fun part is that both of us were in denial. I thought us being anything more than friends was impossible. We came from two very different backgrounds. But everyone around us knew that there were sparks. There was a phase when we would speak on call for 10 hours at a stretch."

Swara Bhasker and Fawad Ahmed celebrated their daughter Raabiyaa's first birthday. In June 2023, the actress announced her pregnancy and in September 2023 the couple welcomed a baby girl who sparked their life and made their family stronger.
