Hema Malini pays heartfelt tribute to Dev Anand on his 101st birth anniversary, Reminisces about their time together

On the occasion of the 101st birthday celebration of the iconic actor Dev Anand, actress and politician Hema Malini shared a touching tribute on Instagram reminiscing about her treasured memories of collaborating with the Evergreen Hero of Indian cinema. Their on screen partnership in numerous films showcased an unforgettable chemistry and Hema nostalgically recalled those cherished moments in her post.

On September Hema shared a collection of old photos reminiscing about her days collaborating with Dev Anand on different movie sets. In a heartfelt caption she conveyed how deeply she longs for his comforting and encouraging presence. “I truly loved him for the extraordinary person that he was and miss his warm presence even today,” she wrote.

Hema mentioned that in her second big movie with a well-known actor Dev Anand played the lead role. She reminisced about feeling inexperienced and star struck by him at first but shared how he quickly put her at ease treating her like a close friend. She portrayed him as a person whose positive energy and kindness brought joy to those around him. "I would never feel low or sad when he was around. His calling me 'Hema!' still reverberates in my ears," she added.

Hema wrapped up her heartfelt tribute with a sweet birthday message for her dear co-star referring to him as ‘Dev Saab’ and expressing how much his bright presence is still missed.

After Hema's post Jackie Shroff left a heartfelt comment paying tribute to her. Fans of both the actress and Dev Anand also joined in celebrating their legendary on-screen chemistry. One user commented, “We love those movies where both of you share such great chemistry,” while another commented, “Golden Era.” Many fans praised Hema, with one remarking, “Ma’am, you are so beautiful... No one can match your aura to this day.”

This marks the 101st anniversary of Dev Anand’s birth a legendary figure in Indian cinema whose career lasted more than sixty years. In honour of his centenary last year the Film Heritage Foundation teamed up with NFDC NFAI to host a film festival called Dev Anand@100 – Forever Young. The festival showcased screenings of four of his classic movies CID, Guide, Jewel Thief and Johny Mera Naam in thirty cities across India celebrating his lasting impact on the industry.

Even though Dev Anand left us on December 3, 2011 his legacy lives on through his movies and heartfelt tributes like those from Hema Malini keep his memory alive and well.
