Saif Ali Khan opens up on 'Adipurush' backlash: “Staying away from religious themes is wiser"

Saif Ali Khan is making headlines for his recent release 'Devara: Part 1'. The film has been released in theatres today i.e. on 27 September. Saif Ali Khan is seen playing the role of a villain in the film. Earlier Saif Ali Khan was also seen in the role of Ravana in 'Adipurush'. However, the actor had to face a lot of criticism for that film. Now Saif himself has broken his silence on the trolling about the film for the first time.

The mythological film Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was one of the most talked about films of the year 2023. There was a lot of buzz about the film before its release, but after its release it only received criticism. People expressed their displeasure towards the scenes, dialogues and characters of the film. Not only this, a lawyer had filed a case in UP against Saif Ali Khan and director Om Raut for playing the role of Ravana in Adipurush and accused them of hurting religious sentiments. Now Saif Ali Khan has broken his silence on these controversies and said that it is better to stay away from films related to religion.

Recently, Saif Ali Khan has spoken openly about the criticism of his film 'Adipurush'. Speaking to India Today Conclave, Saif admitted that this response was quite disturbing. He said, "There was a case and the court had decided something like this that an actor is responsible for whatever he says on screen."

Saif further said, "I know that many people are not free to say or do whatever they want. We all have to control ourselves a little and be a little careful otherwise there can be trouble. There are some topics like religion, which you need to stay away from. We are not here to create trouble." Saif recalled his experience of playing the role of a politician in the 'Tandav' series, which faced a lot of controversies. He said, "I played the role of a politician in a show (Tandav), which was surrounded by a lot of trouble. So, you learn from the job. You need to stay away from these areas." Saif said that as an actor, his aim is to bring people together through his work.
