Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up to make his 25th film project truly memorable by stepping into the lead role of Dhoom 4, a highly awaited revival of the legendary series. As per a report from Pinkvilla the movie has officially kicked off pre-production with Aditya Chopra overseeing it at Yash Raj Films (YRF).

The Dhoom series kicked off back in 2004 featuring John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the roles. It brought a fresh approach to action storytelling in Indian cinema. The franchise expanded with Hrithik Roshan playing the villain in Dhoom 2 (2006) and Aamir Khan joining as the antagonist in Dhoom 3 (2013). Since then, there has been much buzz about the cast of Dhoom 4 and now it is officially announced that Ranbir Kapoor will take on the role, in this upcoming installment.

A source close to the development revealed, “Dhoom is a franchise close to Aditya Chopra’s heart, and he’s decided to reboot it for modern audiences. As with previous films, the script is being developed by Aditya Chopra and Vijay Krishna Acharya. Their aim is to deliver a cinematic experience unlike anything seen before.”

Ranbir Kapoor, who is recognized for his diverse roles is gearing up to take on the role of a villain in a significant turn in his career. “Ranbir has been in talks for Dhoom 4 for a while and was always interested in the project. Now, it’s finally happening,” added the source.

Breaking away from the norm, the upcoming movie will not feature any of the original cast members from previous instalments since it aims to start fresh with the story. Instead, two fresh faces will be introduced to portray the legendary pair of detectives. “With the core story locked, the casting process for the cop roles is underway. Dhoom 4 will not only be the biggest in the franchise but will also set new standards for Indian cinema globally,” shared the insider.

The movie is set to start production towards the end of 2025 or in early 2026 after Ranbir finishes his ongoing projects Love And War and Ramayana 1 & 2. Notably Dhoom 4 will mark the 25th film in Ranbir's career a significant milestone that he is keen to make extra memorable. Additionally, he is scheduled to appear in Animal Park following Dhoom 4 which sets him up for an exciting phase, ahead in the coming years.

Regarding the director YRF is likely to choose a director by the middle of 2025. This person will take charge of the extensive preparation work leading up to the start of filming. The studio has plans for a lineup of movies in the works such as War 2, Alpha, Mardani 3, Pathaan 2 and a showdown between Tiger and Pathaan.

Ranbir Kapoor is set to make a splash at the box office with his upcoming films including Love And War, the Ramayana franchise, Dhoom 4 and Animal Park. These releases could solidify his position as a leading figure in the industry by the end of the decade.
