During a recent chat with India Today, actor Saif Ali Khan talked about his upbringing, schooling and entry into showbiz. Being the child of cricket icon Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and seasoned actress Sharmila Tagore he expressed that depending on his parents wealth was never a choice for him. He mentioned that his late father had invested a considerable sum in mapping out a future for him without consulting him about his own dreams.
Saif, recalling his father's influence, said, "My father spent so much money planning a different future for me. No one had really asked me what I wanted to do." Despite the expectations, Saif always had a keen interest in films, a passion he attributes to his mother's side. "I don't know whether it's about having my mother's blood in me, I have always been very interested in films," he shared. It took a while for Saif to fully embrace the art of acting. He went on to say, "There was a time when I buckled down and said I really want to understand this job and wanted to become a better actor. It's the most wonderful profession, and I am still scratching the surface."
He reminisced about his dad's guidance sharing, "It was never really an option to live off my parents' money. My father told me not to depend on financial inheritance. What he promised me was a good education, and he gave me that." Saif, the oldest among three siblings, which also includes Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan, has made a name for himself in the entertainment field by following his own unique journey.
Saif Ali Khan kicked off his Bollywood journey in 1993 through the film Parampara and went on to star in a series of noteworthy movies including Imtihaan, Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Kachche Dhaage, Biwi No. 1, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Hum Tum, Omkara and Love Aaj Kal. With his array of performances, he has earned a reputation as one of the most esteemed actors in the film industry.
