Rajinikanth talks about his upcoming film Vettaiyan co-starring Nayanthara outside Chennai airport

Legendary actor Rajinikanth was spotted outside Chennai airport on September 28, where he interacted with the media about his much-anticipated film, Vettaiyan, slated for release on October 10, 2024. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film is generating huge buzz, with Rajinikanth expressing confidence that it will meet audience expectations.

Speaking about the project, the Jailer actor said, “Vettaiyan has huge expectations among the audience. I’m definitely hoping the movie will meet them. While both Darbar and Vettaiyan are cop films, Vettaiyan will be very different from Darbar."

Vettaiyan tells the story of an IPS officer known for his encounter specialist reputation. Rajinikanth will once again don the role of a police officer in this action-packed film, which promises a typical Rajini-style spectacle. The film’s director, TJ Gnanavel, recently shared in an interview with 123 Telugu that the movie will feature several high-octane action sequences and songs while delving into the unique backstory of an encounter specialist.

"After Jailer's massive success, the expectations on Rajini sir have soared. Vettaiyan will have songs and fights, but I haven’t strayed from my core message. We’ve seen films about encounter specialists, but we’ve never explored their thought processes and backgrounds. Vettaiyan will shed light on that,” said Gnanavel.

The star-studded cast includes Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Abhirami in pivotal roles. Notably, the film marks Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan’s reunion after 33 years.

In addition to Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will also be seen in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film features veteran actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao, with Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir playing key roles.

With Vettaiyan set for release next month, Rajinikanth is all set to deliver another blockbuster, solidifying his legendary status in Indian cinema.
