Shahid Kapoor reveals fear of doing South Indian movies: “If audience is not happy with my…”

Shahid Kapoor has carved a niche in the film industry creating a massive fanbase with his chocolate boy charm to handsome masculinity. He has worked in several movies since making his debut in 2003 with Ishq Vishk. Last featured in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Shahid confessed he fears working in South Indian language films. 

Shahid Kapoor has excited his fans with preparation and rehearsals for his performance at the International Indian Film Academy Awards. The 24th edition of IIFA is happening at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The star glitzy award event has already started with IIFA Utsavam on day 1 and IIFA rocks to be held on the third day. Shahid Kapoor present at the event shared why he has not worked in the South film industry until now.

When asked about working in South cinema, he said, “I’m game for it but I have a fear of what if the audience down south is not happy with my usage of the language pertaining to correct enunciation of the dialogues. I don’t want to leave any loose ends, Hindi, I have a good command on.”

He further added, "I want to work in all languages, but what if people don't understand what I say? That's always the fear. To me, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada are all the same because I don't know any of them. So if any director can trust me with that, I'd love to work in the South."

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will be next seen in action film Deva. He recently wrapped the shoot of Rosshan Andrrews's directorial in which he will essay the role of a cop. The film also starring Pooja Hegde is expected to release in 2025. He has also been roped alongside Triptii Dimri in an action thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
