Karan Johar refutes false news of him investing in Swiggy

Filmmaker Karan Johar often remains in the headlines for his work and controversies. He has recently grabbed attention for investing in food delivery company Swiggy. Recent reports were rife that the filmmaker made an acquisition in the popular widely accessed food ordering and delivery channel Swiggy. Well, today his team has refuted the rumours calling it untrue.

On Tuesday, Karan Johar’s team released an official statement to clear the air about the claims. Dismissing the news it is now clarified that Karan Johar has no investment in Swiggy and all the reports were false. The statement was released by Dharma Productions spokesperson.

The statement reads, "Certain sections of the media are falsely reporting that Mr. Karan Johar has invested in Swiggy, the online food delivery service. These reports are untrue. Mr. Johar has not invested in Swiggy."

This comes after the reports of many A-lister celebrities invested in food delivery company, Swiggy. Reports claim that Madhuri Dixit Nene, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rahul Dravid, have invested in the IPO of the food delivery platform.

Swiggy is reportedly gearing up for a significant IPO aimed at raising $1.4 billion (approximately Rs 11,664 crore). Initially, the company had planned to raise around Rs 3,750 crore (about $450 million) through a fresh issue. However, this figure has now been revised to Rs 5,000 crore (around $600 million), reflecting an increase of Rs 1,250 crore or $150 million, as Swiggy seeks to bolster its financial reserves in a highly competitive market.

On the professional front, Karan Johar is currently all set for the release of his upcoming movie JIgra starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. The action thriller is co-produced by Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions.

Karan contemplates walking in the footsteps of Sanjay Leela Bhansali creating a web series for streaming giant Netflix. The filmmaker will next direct a big-budget web series making his OTT debut as a director.
