Amidst Tumbbad sequel, Sohum Shah reacts to fallout rumours with director Rahi Anil Barve

Amidst the massive buzz of Tumbbad re-release, there are rumours of a tiff between makers Sohum Shah and Rahi Anil Barve. This comes after the director Rahi announced his exit from the sequel. Netizens could sense tension between the actor-producer and the director. Now Sohum Shah has dismissed the reports of the fallout with Rahi Anil Barve.

Earlier, Sohum Shah announced Tumbbad 2 but Rahil Anil Barve stepped back from directing the sequel looking at his ambitious future projects. Soon reports surfaced that this decision of came due a possible difference between the two filmmakers. In an interview with India Today, the actor addresses fallout differences between the two.

He said, “There are no issues at all. We have been trying to make Tumbbad 2 for the longest time. We were not able to crack the script in the writing stage. We are working with Yogesh Chandekar, the writer of Andhadhun, and Monica O My Darling. We have finally got it. As for Rahi, he has been working on mega shows like Gulkanda Tales and Rakt Bramhand. He has been working on those massive projects for a few years now.”

He further added, “Recently, we had a screening and Rahi was there. He was the one who designed Vinayak's (his character) look. Whenever we are making Tumbbad 2, and we need him, he will be there. And I think it's vice versa, as I would always be there for him when he needs me. Rahi is an important part of my life. It's not that we were friends who started working together. We met as colleagues and then formed a friendship. He is the one who keeps pushing me to do bigger projects. He wants me to play alpha men's parts. He is the one who has put that kind of confidence in me. We are really good.”

Tumbbad follows folktales of a village in Maharastra where a man’s greed lead him to mythical treasure. The 2018 released folklore adventure made a triumphing return to theaters after 6 years. The film became a hit upon re-release compared to its original opening, and it did staggering business at the box office. It has surpassed its original box office collection.  The film is produced by Sohum Shah Films and presented by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions.
