Govinda is lately ruling the news headlines for accidentally shooting himself. After getting discharged from CritiCare Hospital the actor shared his side of the story. He clears air around the buzz and theories build around his accident. The 60-year-old actor also revealed the reason behind keeping a revolver. A press conference was held after he was discharged from the hospital.
Govinda accidentally shot his leg with his licensed revolver on October 1 and was immediately rushed to the hospital. After being admitted for 4 days he has been released and interacted with media to talk about the incident. The Hero No. 1 actor claims it was purely an accident and nothing else. He said, “Initially, I couldn’t believe it had happened. Thoda gehra lag gaya tha, jab laga tab vishwas nahi hua. Aisa laga ke yeh kya hua?”
Govinda confirmed that he was alone at home when the incident took place around 4:45-5:00 am while he was leaving for Kolkata. He said, “I was getting ready to leave for the show… for Kolkata. It was in the morning, around 4.45-5 am. The revolver fell and misfired. I felt a jhatka and when I saw… there was a fountain of blood. I thought I should not associate this incident with anyone else and trouble them so I shot some videos and was then rushed to Dr Agarwal. He then came with us and took me to Criti Care hospital.”
On being asked the need for keeping a loaded revolver, Govinda explained, “When we are getting ready in the morning itself feels like whatever you are doing in haste is right… Main thoda sa mast raha karta hoon (I’m a bit careless/carefree by nature), so I felt nothing was wrong. I am a bit easy-going I didn’t think something like this would happen. But one should be careful. I hope something like this doesn’t happen to anyone, they can learn from my incident.”
He further added, “Fame is a flame and you have to be aware of the flame which is around, all over the world. It is like fire when you get successful and you have to tread carefully. When you have so many people who love you there are also some who are jealous of you which is also not an issue, it comes across in the form of competition… but I would like to say that this incident should not be attached to anyone or anything. There should be no galatfehmi around.”
Govinda accidentally misfired himself and suffered a knee injury. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai. Police also investigated the incident and weren’t convinced by the actor’s version of the story.
