Alia Bhatt addresses comparisons between Jigra and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal

The buzz around Alia Bhatt’s upcoming movie is immensely high. While people were lauding the trailer some drew comparisons between Vasan Bala’s directorial and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal movie. Alia who is on a promotional spree, addressed the fans theories of Jigra vs Animal. The actress responds perfectly to those linking her movie with her husband’s last film.

The 31-year-old star was in Delhi to promote her forthcoming film Jigra. During the press meet, She addressed comparisons between Jigra Animal, She also shared if she feels professional competition with her husband Ranbir Kapoor. She said there are no such similarities between the two films adding further that she and Ranbir often discuss their work.

During the interaction, Alia said in Hindi, "Animal Vs Jigra… Ghar pe (at home)! I wouldn’t say there’s any competition between us. I think I am very fortunate that my husband (Ranbir Kapoor) is also my best friend and a wonderful actor. We often discuss our films and scenes with each other. I talked about Gangubai Kathiawadi and Jigra. Every time I had a doubt or confusion, I would discuss it with him and he did the same with me for Animal.”

She further added, “I know people have been comparing the two, but there really aren’t many similarities. It’s not just about Animal or Jigra; a common theme in many films is doing something for a loved one. It’s a genre in itself, and many movies have been made on these lines. So aside from that one aspect, there aren’t any direct similarities between the two films.”
Animal starred Ranbir Kapoor as an Alpha male who would do anything for his father played by Anil Kapoor. The film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga was criticised for being too violent and misogynist. However, it became a box office hit when released in 20223.

Jigra revolves around Alia Bhatt, a sister - Satya, who goes to extremes to save her brother Ankur who is imprisoned in a foreign jail. The film showcases an emotional heartwarming story of a brother and sister set in an intense gripping narrative featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. The power-packed action thriller is directed by Vasan Bala and is slated to release in theaters on October 11 in Hindi and Telugu. The film is bankrolled by Alia Bhatt in association with Karan Johar under Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions.
