Deepika Padukone is gearing up for her upcoming movie Singham Again as she enters Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. She has nailed her character as police officer Shakti Shetty yet faced criticism over her accent. Joining the cop forces with Ajay Devgn, she shinned as Lady Singham and caught everyone's attention. Amid the backlash Deepika Padukone shared how she positively accepted negative reviews for her debut film Om Shanti Om.
On World Mental Health Day, Deepika Padukone spoke to Arianna Huffington during her Live Love Laugh Foundation Lecture Series. Addressing mental health the actress also spoke about being criticized for her accent in her debut film. A section of people have also trolled her for Singham Again diction. But it is worth taking note of how positively Deepika handles criticism.
She said, “When my debut movie Om Shanti Om released, there were quite a few bad reviews, but I specifically remember this one bad review which pushed me to work on myself. It spoke about my accent, my diction, my talent and my capabilities. Negativity is sometimes a good thing, it’s what you make of it. The larger picture is what do you do with that criticism, how do you look at it positively.”
In the same conversation, she highlighted the importance of self-love. She added, “For someone who makes time for themselves or takes a weekend off, people think that person is not driven, which I find so bizarre. If someone needs downtime or time for themselves, they think this person is not motivated enough so let’s look for someone who is ready to burn the midnight oil, because that person is hardworking, so committed. For me, it comes from being an athlete, that you need your rest, you need your recovery to perform better.”
Deepika Padukone recently welcomed her first child with her husband Ranveer Singh. Following Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas her next release is Singham Again along with a multi-star cast. The third installment of the Singham film series that draws parallels with Ramayana is scheduled to release during Diwali 2024 on November 1.
