In an interview while talking about Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and his relationship status he said, "I don't want to talk about Munmun. I am focusing on my career and I have many issues to discuss. Whenever there is something interesting about my personal life, I will talk." Raj joked that his mother would like to have a 'Swayamvar' for him, as she feels that he is not fully established in his career yet.

In that conversation, Raj also discussed his decision to leave 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. He said, "I played the character of Tappu for five years and with that character I could not grow my career. When I left the show, all my friends thought I was crazy to do something like this. But I had to accept the challenge and push myself to do something new."
