Alia Bhatt shares her plans for a Hollywood career: “It’s difficult to pack and leave”

Alia Bhatt has carved a niche in Bollywood in a career spanning 12 years. Establishing herself as a versatile actor and determined producer she has even made a debut in Hollywood. She shared the screen alongside Gal Gadot in her first English film Heart of Stone. Sharing the idea of future plans in the west, Alia Bhatt is hesitant. Here’s what she talks about her Hollywood career.

When asked about her interest in doing more international projects, Alia Bhatt admitted that it's not simple, especially when she is a mother. In a conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan for What Women Want's fifth season, the Jigra actress shared what it takes to commit to such projects.

Alia Bhatt said, “I think it genuinely depends on the timing. When Heart of Stone came to me, I had some time, and I thought it would be an interesting opportunity to break into a new space, similar to what I did with RRR. It’s not about ‘I have to do a Hollywood film’ or ‘I need to take on this project.’ It’s more about pushing myself into unfamiliar territory and taking on challenges that help me grow.”

The actress revealed that her priorities have shifted after becoming a mother to Raha Kapoor, when she is keen to explore global opportunities. She believes such commitments need mindful planning. “Now, it’s harder to just pack up and leave for three to four months. I can’t just move bag and baggage for longer periods anymore,” she said.

To this Kareena suggested Ranbir would be happy to look after Raha while Alia works and would support her career. Alia said “He’s obsessed,” but later clarified “It depends on the story, the timing, and how much I want to do it. It’s not just a whim decision; it has to make sense both professionally and personally.”

On the work front, Alia Bhatt is basking in praise for her release movie Jigra. She plays a fierce and intense sister character to rescue her brother (played by Vedang Raina) from the international jail. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film is co-produced by Alia herself under Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film opened in cinemas on October 11.
