Baba Siddique, the National Congress Party leader who was shot dead last night in Mumbai, will receive a state funeral with full government honours this evening, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Maharashtra for three consecutive terms from 1999 to 2009. 

His son Zeeshan Siddique shared the funeral details on social media. He wrote, “The Namaz E Janaza will be conducted at 7 pm after Magrib Namaz at Maqba Heights on Pali Hill in Bandra. The burial will take place after that at Bada Kabarastan in Marine Lines. Baba Siddique is survived by his wife Shehzeen, son Zeeshan and daughter Dr. Arshia Siddique.

Meanwhile, two of the shooters arrested last night have reportedly admitted their links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang which has threatened Salman Khan’s life. Since the actor was known to be a close friend of the slain politician, concerns are being raised over Salman’s security now. It was Baba Siddique who advocated increased security for Salman after the Galaxy Apartments firing incident on April 14, this year.
