Mallika Sherawat well-known for her work in Murder made Bollywood comeback with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. She is grabbing headlines for sharing her experience on challenges she faced through her journey. She made a shocking revelation, how a filmmaker categorized her as a sensual element in a song with a hero preparing chapati on her waist.

The actress shared her bizarre experience of working with a filmmaker in the south industry during an interview with Hauterrfly. She recalled being approached by a director for song and was asked to show her hotness. She said, "I was shooting for a song in a South Indian movie when the director approached me. He said, ‘Madam, we want to show how hot you are.’ I agreed, thinking it was just a typical dance sequence. But then he added, ‘In this scene, the hero will cook rotis on your stomach."

Sherawat was surprised with the idea and turned down the project. She added, "Can you imagine? This was their idea of how to portray a woman as hot by having a hero cook rotis on her waist. Of course, I declined. It doesn’t work for me." 

Further, she spoke about the portrayal of women's sexuality in films. She stated they are used in selling everything from soaps, cars, washing machines to even toothpaste. She said, "In 2004, when I did Murder, we used erotica for the box office. What is the box office? It’s stimulation, right? People were outraged; they burned my dolls. On one side, you use a woman’s sexuality to sell something, and on the other, you abuse me for the same thing."

Mallika Sherawat has also worked in movies like Darna Zaroori Hai, Kis Kis Ki Kismat, Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam, Welcome, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Ugly Aur Pagli, Thank You, Double Dhamaal and others. Her recent release Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is running in theaters since October 11, 2024.
