Ranbir Kapoor's 'Tamasha' scene shot 16 times: Piyush Mishra reveals the reason behind it

Imtiaz Ali's directorial venture Tamasha received mixed reviews at the time of its release. However, as time passed and some dialogues and clips from the film started getting shared on social media, the film became the centre of discussion. Tamasha was not just an entertainment medium but also opened doors to new opportunities for the actors. The film featured actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Piyush Mishra in pivotal roles.

Recently, actor Piyush Mishra refreshed his memories related to Tamasha during an interview. He revealed that the famous long conversation scene between him and Ranbir at the end of the film was shot sixteen times. Piyush insisted that he strictly followed Imtiaz Ali's instructions and no improvisation was done in that emotional scene.

Piyush Mishra also emphasised that he strictly followed the writer-director's instructions and did not improvise in that very emotional scene. He shared, 'We played it exactly as Imtiaz had written it in the script. We really did it 16 times. However, those were not retakes. This is Imtiaz Ali's strange process. He doesn't do retakes.'

He said, "We did it completely the way Imtiaz had written it in the script. It literally happened 16 times, but it was not a retake. Imtiaz has a strange process, he doesn't do retakes." In this conversation, Piyush revealed how that particular sequence was filmed. He said, "Imtiaz kept instructing us to keep doing it. He would say take what he likes. He trusted me and Ranbir completely, and we had a great rapport. We kept doing it again and again, and eventually he chose the part that he liked the best. But that dialogue was really long, and we had to work really hard to get it right. Still, it was a fun experience. Working with Imtiaz is always a joyous process."
