Whenever Bollywood veteran actors are discussed, the name of the great actor Om Puri is definitely taken. Om Puri was born on 18 October 1950 in Ambala city of Punjab. He was an actor who played every type of character in an excellent way, be it villain or comedy. Om Puri, who achieved immortality through his films, said goodbye to this world on 6 January 2017. Om Puri was considered the 'Grand Old Man' of Indian cinema. He spent more than three decades in the film industry and his death was a big blow to Bollywood. Om Puri worked not only in Indian cinema but also in many British and American films. He started his film career with the Marathi film 'Ghasiram Kotwal', which was based on a famous play of the same name. The film was directed by K. Hariharan.

Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah, who hold a special place in Bollywood, had a deep friendship. Both shared a love for food and drink, and their favorite dishes included brain curry. Om Puri once said, "It was Naseer who made me a non-vegetarian." The two studied together at the National School of Drama and their friendship lasted for more than 40 years. They worked together in many popular films, such as 'Aakrosh', 'Drohkaal', 'Sparsh', 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro', 'Ardh Satya', 'Paar', 'Mandi', and 'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai'.

Once on Anupam Kher's show, Om Puri told about his life, how a six-year-old kid, who used to wash tea glasses, became Om Puri. He also worked in Hindi serials and became a popular name on TV. Om Puri also acted in a few episodes of horror TV serials like 'Aahat' and hosted a TV show.
