Sara Ali Khan responds to criticism of her relatable image: “I curate characters for camera, In real I am just who I am”

Sara Ali Khan carries a girl-next-door image from her hilarious shayaris to wearing non-designer clothes. She even holds a miser characteristic of saving money despite hailing from a Pataudi family. Sara Ali Khan has always been publicly open about her nature which is often relatable with the audience. However, a section of netizens call it fabricated and PR work. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter has now addressed criticism over her relatable image.

In response to such speculations, she emphasized in an interview with Harper Bazaar that her on-screen characters are carefully curated, distinguishing the from her real-life persona. When asked about the intention behind her relatable image on social media and during interviews, she discussed her fashion choices, highlighting the balance she seeks between following trends and expressing her personal style.

Speaking to Harper Bazaar about her girl-next-door image which has often remained in discussion with some finding it relatable and others calling it fake, she said, "I don’t think I’ve spent any energy, to the dismay of some people, curating an image of myself. That’s something I would do for the camera, where I curate characters. In real life I am just who I am—whether that’s somebody who goes to the gym with five pairs of shorts and alternates them with crop tops, or someone who goes to the airport in athleisure but can also go in jeans and a t-shirt."

She further added, "It’s important to surround yourself with real people so that you’re not dependent on the phone screen. It’s easy to get caught up and lose focus on what the bigger things in life are. Choosing internal peace and traveling help me see what truly matters.”

On the work front, Sara Ali Khan was last seen in the historic thriller-drama Ae Watan Mere Watan. Her next film in the pipeline is Metro In Dino directed by Anurag Basu.
