Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor face POCSO case over obscene scenes in 'Gandi Baat' web series

Bold content was served indiscriminately in Alt Balaji's web series 'Gandi Baat'. There was a lot of controversy about the series. At the same time, now producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor are in trouble. A case has been registered against both of them under the POCSO Act. In an episode of 'Gandi Baat Season 6', obscene scenes of minor girls were shown. For this reason, a complaint has been lodged against the app's former producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor.

A local citizen has lodged a complaint against Alt Balaji's former producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor at the MHB police station in Borivali, Mumbai. It has been claimed that objectionable scenes of minor girls were shown in the web series 'Gandi Baat' streamed on 'Alt Balaji' between February 2021 and April 2021. It should be known that there was a ruckus since the streaming of the series. This is the reason why this controversial episode is no longer available for streaming on the app.

In the complaint filed regarding Ekta Kapoor's series, it has also been alleged that great men and saints have been insulted by using cigarette advertisements in it. The scene has been described as objectionable and hurtful to the sentiments. Not only this, there is also an allegation of displaying some such scenes in the series, which violate the rules of POCSO.

Apart from POCSO, the scene has also been considered a violation of laws like Information Technology Act 2000, Women Prohibition Act 1986 and Cigarettes-Other Tobacco Products Act 2003. It is known that on 27 September 2024, the Supreme Court had given a big decision regarding objectionable content related to children. The Supreme Court had rejected the decision of the Madras High Court.

Actually, Madras High Court had said that such activities cannot be included in the crime, but the Supreme Court rejected the decision of Madras High Court and ruled that publishing, downloading and watching pornographic content related to children will be a crime.
