Jigra director Vasan Bala takes responsibility of Alia Bhatt’s film’s box office performance

Alia Bhatt’s Jigra directed by Vasan Bala and backed by Karan Johar had a decent performance at the box office. The director recently opened up about Jigra’s low collection at the box office. He is keen to analyze what went wrong and mentioned that he takes responsibility for the low business.

Jigra featured Alia Bhatt in her fierce and intense action avatar which was applauded widely by critics and audience alike. However, this film turned out to be her lowest box officer opener. The actress is known to deliver hits and her previous projects have been proof. The emotional heartwarming story of a brother-sister bond blended with action was loved by the audience who watched it but failed to attract the masses. In an interview with Fever FM, Vasan Bala reacted to box office performance.

Vasan Bala said, "She is the first choice for every one. She could have been on any other film set, but Jigra, during that time. So she has to make that choice. And she has trusted me with that choice. So it is my responsibility to deliver box office, because we are in the business of filmmaking also."

He went on to add, "So which is why I need to analyse. Kuch toh hua hai na (Something has happened, right)? Something has happened where people have stayed away, something that they have not bought, something that they didn't feel the need to come to the theatre. If at all any other actor decides to give their time, his or her, then you know, make it worth it."

Releasing on October 11, Jigra made an opening of Rs 4.55 crore and so far it has made a total collection of reportedly Rs 27.30 crore. Presented by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Somen Mishra.
