Kriti Sanon reveals it took her years to shed off ‘Tiger Shroff heroine’ label

Kriti Sanon has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood without any heavyweight industrial support in a career spanning 10 years. She has come a long way from debuting in Heropanti in 2014, to opening her own production house to being an entrepreneur launching a cosmetic brand. During the initial stage of career, she was tagged as Tiger Shroff’s heroine, the actor with whom she made her debut. After several years the actress revealed how she got rid of the label.

During an Indian Express event, Kriti Sanon recalled getting her first break with Heropanti alongside Tiger Shroff. She said, “It didn’t take me that many years to get my first break. At the time of Heropanti, though people knew Tiger and that the movie marked his launch, the director and producer treated the movie as launching two new faces. I got the quintessential Bollywood heroine moment too, with songs and everything.”

She further mentioned that rather than the name her identity turned to be Tiger Shroff’s heroine. Speaking about that she added, “However, for a while after that, people referred to me as ‘the one who appeared in Tiger Shroff’s movie.’ When you are not from the industry (film family), it takes longer for you to etch you name and face into the minds of people. At that point the kids of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who later directed Bareilly Ki Barfi, used to call me ‘Tiger didi.’ Those were the instances when I realised I would have to work doubly hard to get people to recognise me and know me for who I am.”

On the work front, Kriti Sanon is now gearing up for her production venture Do Patti. She also starts in the lead playing a dual role with Kajol portraying a cop. The murder mystery thriller guarantees an engrossing narrative blended with suspense and conspiracy. The story is about twin sisters with dark secrets and a determined police officer on a quest to reveal the truth in an attempted murder case. Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi Do Patti is co-produced by Kriti Sanon under her production company Blue Butterfly Films and Kanika Dhillon. The film will be released on Netflix on October 25.
