Rajinikanth reveals Suriya’s Kanguva was originally envisioned for him

Rajinikanth’s latest film Vettaiyan was reportedly supposed to clash with Suriya’s Kanguva during the Dussehra festival. However, with respect to Thalaivar, Suriya backed out and opted for a solo release on November 14. Recently, the megastar was invited as a guest for the audio launch of the fantasy action film, but he couldn’t attend the event due to a packed schedule. Rajinikanth, made his presence felt by sending a video message showering praise for Suriya and made a big revelation that Kanguva was originally made for him.

Rajinikanth revealed that he had asked Suriya director Siva to make a period film for him and Suriya was envisioned for him. He said, “Actually, during the filming of Annaatthe, I spoke to Siva, and asked if he could write a period film for me. He was pumped up about it too, and I think this movie was written for me. It then reached Gnanavel and Suriya. But that’s alright. I hope he will come up with something else for me.”

The megastar later showered love and praise for Suriya. He also expressed his wish for the film Kanguva to be successful. He said, “Shivakumar is a gentleman, and a lion’s kid can’t be a cat. So, Suriya is also like his father. I wish the film to become a huge success.”

The action fantasy film Kanguva is directed by Siva and made under the banner of Studio Green. The film is headlined by Suriya and Bobby Deol plays the antagonist. The Tamil language film will be released in theaters on November 14, 2024.
