Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay hints at quitting acting for politics

Earlier this year, Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay made headlines with the announcement of his foray into politics, launching his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. This news sparked a wave of mixed emotions among his fans, who were thrilled at the prospect of seeing him as their leader but saddened by the potential loss of his presence on the silver screen. Reports circulated about him completing the final shoots for his remaining commitments. However, during a recent event, Vijay addressed the topic clarifying his future plans.

Vijay has made a significant career shift entering politics. The actor has answered all the speculations about him ending his filming career. During the first TVK Vijay Maanadu event and during his fiery speech, he addressed his fans on Sunday and shared his future plans. He indirectly confirmed to be a full-time political leader throwing away his film career.

Addressing a massive gathering in Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay was quoted saying, “I have thrown away the peak of my career and I have thrown away the salary.. I’m here as your VIJAY with a trust on you all…” His quotes indicate that he has given up acting in movies and will focus on his political career. 

For the unversed, Vijay is the highest-paid actor in India and he has accomplished this title in a career spanning over 3 decades. As per reports he charged Rs 275 crore for his next film Thalapathy 69 which is expected to release in 2025. Starting an acting career as a child he went on to feature in over 68 films. His last release was G.O.A.T - Greatest of All Time, an action fantasy film that became his second biggest hit film after Leo.
