Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: Rajpal Yadav addresses evolution of his character Chote Pandit; Says it's more than a character

Rajpal Yadav has impressed the audience with his impeccable comic timing over the years. Among all his characters his role as Chote Pandit from Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) remains memorable. He reprised his role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 when the film franchise was extended after 15 years with Kartik Aaryan taking the lead. As Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set for this week's release, Rajpal Yadav has addressed the evolution of his iconic character over the three installments of the horror-comedy series.

Rajpal Yadav has left a lasting impact in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2007 and is the only character that has been unchanged throughout the film series. Chote Pandit played an unforgettable role in Akshay Kumar’s film and returned to the franchise alongside Kartik Aaryan and Sanjay Mishra. Rajpal believes having worked in three chapter of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 he isn’t just a character now.

Speaking to ANI, about his character Chote Pandit, Rajpal Yadav said,  "He isn't just a character but a caricature, a comic archetype. In our Indian culture, Bharat Muni's 'Natya Shastra' envisioned such characters, like sutradhaar (narrator) and vidushak (clown). Chote Pandit embodies that, a character who mocks no one but himself, providing comic relief in the story."

He went on to add, "You've seen him in different hues--red in the first film and white in the second to protect himself from fire. Now, he appears covered in sandalwood paste to cleanse himself of all negativity, bringing a fresh, humorous dimension."

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anes Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar, is set to carry forward the legacy that started in 2007 by Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa. It will see Kartik Aaryan reprising his role as Rooh Baba alongside Vidya Balan who returns as the OG Manjulika. The film also introduces Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. The third installment of the horror comedy franchise, which promises to be spooky, fun, and cinematic, is set to release this Diwali on November 1, 2024.
