Bobby Deol believes he is doing more films in South than Bollywood; Says “I have great characters to look forward”

Bobby Deol has started the second inning of his career with Animal and Aashram. He garnered immense love and fame for his villainous role in Ranbir Kapoor’s action thriller released in 2023. He has completed three decades in the industry having worked in over 50 movies. Although he made a debut as a child actor in DharamVeer (1977) alongside father Dharmendra, his first movie as an adult lead was Barsaat (1955) which will clock 30 next year. Talking about his journey so far the actor thinks its great to be in this profession even now.

Following the success of Animal, The actor started receiving negative roles in South film industry. His next upcoming release is Kanguva where he plays a menacing villain. Addressing the fame and success he is receiving now at the age of 55 says “God has been kind”. Speaking to PTI, Bobby Deol said, "It's great to know that I've spent 30 years and I'm still here. In my mind, I still think like a child. It's only when I see my kids, I realise 'Oh, I've become old'."

He further spoke about exploring film industries in Indian cinema. Gearing up for the Tamil film Kanguva, Bobby said, "I'm doing more films in the south industry than I am doing in my own industry, which is great. I have some great characters to look forward to... God has been kind." 

Bobby Deol was a popular name in the late 1990s and early 2000s with movies such as "Soldier", "Gupt", "Humraaz", and "Ajnabee". However, he stayed away from acting for years but bounced back with Race 3 and Housefull 4, he even featured in OTT content, Class of 83, and Prakash Jha's ''Aashram'' which gained him critical acclaim. His last Bollywood big ticket was Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal headlined by Ranbir Kapoor. Bobby makes his debut in the South industry with action fantasy drama Kanguva starring Suriya. The film is set to release in theaters on November 14, 2024.
