Ameesha Patel was a popular name during her acting days after her hit debut Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000). It’s lesser known she was offered a film opposite Shah Rukh Khan unfortunately she couldn’t do it because of her management. The 2003 release Chalte Chalte was first offered to Ameesha Patel, but she couldn’t be a part of the film as her secretary didn’t inform her. She claims that she holds no regrets about stepping out of any project.

In a recent interview, Ameesha Patel spoke about the lows and highs in her movie career.  She recalled an incident when she unknowingly let go Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte. She said, “In my profession, I missed out on some films. Some became colossal successes, and some failed. I didn’t do Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte because I wasn’t aware it was offered to me. My secretary didn’t inform me that this film was in the offering.”

The Gadar 2 actress further added, “‘Come, Let me show you a few edits of some footage of a film that you declined.’ I replied, ‘Shah Rukh, what have I declined?’ and he said, ‘This.'” In an earlier interview, she had mentioned, “For a long time, there was a hierarchy of secretaries and managers; they didn’t let projects get to the actor. There was a lot of that.” 

Last year, Ameesha Patel made a comeback to movies, featuring in the sequel of her iconic film. She returned to screens with Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol. The sequel to the 2001 film hit theaters after 22 years and showcased original characters reprising their roles. It turned out to be highest-grossing films of Bollywood.
