Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar known for Sam Bahadur and Raazi has teamed up with Prithviraj Sukumaran for her next project with Kareena Kapoor Khan. She brought the south actor on board after Ayushmann Khurrana stepped out due to scheduling conflicts. The film tentatively titled Daayra is reportedly based on a true and disturbing incident. The film will feature Prithviraj in a cop role alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan.
A source close to the development told India Today, "After Ayushmann Khurrana and Sidharth Malhotra exited 'Daayra' due to scheduling conflicts, Prithviraj was approached. He connected with the script and the film's message. His role is essential to driving the narrative, while Kareena's character will show her in a new light, exuding strength, vulnerability, and intuition."
Ayushmann Khurrana exited the film Daayra due to actor’s multiple commitments including his extensive music tour across major US cities. Not just Daayra, but the actor has stepped down from Sunny Deol’s Border 2 stating he was unsure of his positioning. Ayushmann will be next seen alongside Rashmika Mandanna in Maddock Films’s next Thama. Reportedly he also has a movie with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga in the pipeline.
About Prithviraj Sukumaran’s work front, his last Bollywood project was last seen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan as an antagonist opposite Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film. The actor last appeared in Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), based on Benyamin’s acclaimed novel.
