Item numbers are also performances, says Sharvari

That lovely actress Sharvari, who’s had two releases this year in Munjya and Vedaa, is reckoned to be a bright spark oozing confidence by the film industry. Also, she is spunky, sharp and stylish in her dress sense. So, it should not come as a surprise that Sharvari has definite opinions (even though she is only 27) and is not reserved about expressing them. Like she recently did on the ‘Humans of Bombay’ podcast when discussing if “item numbers” in Bollywood are detrimental to women. Sharvari said, “Song and dance have been a big part of our culture. Both men and women should do what they want to do. It could be any sort or role. People play antagonistic roles as well. Such perceptions cannot stop one from performing. It is a personal take on the people who watch it (item numbers) or perceive it in a certain way. For actors it’s just a performance.” Wah, that’s telling ‘em girl!
