Kangana’s Emergency, at last!

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has finally got a release date. It’s going to hit theatres on January 17, next year. The political drama, written, directed and co-produced by Kangana (she courageously also plays the lead role of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi) has been jinxed all along. First the Censors took objection to it. Then the Shiromani Akal Dal accused it of misrepresenting facts about the Sikh community. Kangana, with all her political clout, could not do much about it but fight these forces tooth and nail. On X yesterday, she described Emergency as “the epic saga of the nation’s most powerful woman and the moment that altered India’s destiny”. Had she possessed the same arbitrary powers that Mrs. G did when she could rule by decree, Kangana’s Emergency would have seen the light of day unopposed and released in September itself.
