'Article 370' shines at 55th IFFI: Yami Gautam reflects on film, Career, and motherhood

The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held every year in Goa, was special in many ways this time. 15 films are participating in the competition section of this festival, and now the time has come to announce the name of the best film among them. The film winning the Golden Peacock Award will also be given a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh. Among the Indian films in the race for this big award, Malayalam film 'Aadujeevitham', Marathi film 'Raosaheb' and Hindi film 'Article 370' have waved the tricolor flag. The jury chairman of this competition section is well-known producer-director Ashutosh Gowariker.

Yami Gautam participated in this festival for the screening of her film 'Article 370'. This was Yami's first public event after becoming a mother. During this, Yami shared her thoughts on her film and her journey in cinema. Yami said, "I have always chosen films that are special in some way or the other, and Aditya (Yami's husband and the film's producer) did the same. He produced this film with Lokesh. It was not a very popular kind of film, and with it came many questions and suggestions like, 'Are you sure? Will the audience like this film? Will it connect? There are no songs in it. It is a serious film and is based on a documentary.'"

Yami said that she and Aditya believed that if the film is made well, its story and the support of the team will make it a success. This time 'Article 370' is being considered the audience's favorite film in the competition section of IFFI. At the same time, jury chairman Ashutosh Gowariker admitted in a conversation with 'Amar Ujala' that many good films have come this time, but the public support in the festival seems to be in favor of 'Article 370'.

Yami also said that she has always made a conscious decision to choose strong characters. She said, "I have always played strong female characters on screen who look different. This is part of my deliberate effort. If you work continuously in this direction, then the audience, filmmakers, writers and producers understand that you can do everything - comedy, political thriller and drama."

On the balance between her personal and professional life, Yami said that her work has increased a lot in the last few years. She said, "I am busier than ever and am ready to balance my personal and professional life. This is a big change, but change does not happen overnight. It requires sacrifice, hard work and the support of many people. We should celebrate this and I am happy to be a part of the cinema at this time.”
