If you ever bump into Manoj Bajpayee on the road, and wonder why he is driving around in a car without dark glasses, it’s because the actor is busy studying people. Manoj is not wary of getting spotted. He does not mind it when people ask for the occasional selfie, though he admits it’s an invasion on his private space, and so will unconcernedly venture into marketplaces to buy vegetables. His big thing is observing people, understanding them and their characters, and then getting their minds into his characters. He has never been enamored by stardom or chased it. “Stardom is to do with mystery and glamour – what I am chasing is roles,” Manoj has said.
