The trailer of Pushpa 2: The Rule film directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil was released on December 4. Seeing the huge enthusiasm of the audience towards the film, the makers have increased the ticket prices. In some theaters in Delhi and Mumbai, the price of the tickets of the film was fixed at more than two thousand rupees. This decision is also being criticized, but the filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has supported this move.
Ram Gopal Varma defended the increased ticket prices by writing a long note on X (formerly Twitter). He also gave an example regarding this. He wrote, "A person named Subbarao opened his idli hotel and fixed the price of idli at Rs 1000. This is because Subbarao believed that his idli is better than the rest of the idlis."
Varma further said that if it is said that you are paying for the ambiance of a seven-star hotel, then Pushpa 2 is also a seven-star quality film. Along with this, he also said that 'democratic capitalism works on the difference of classes and films are made to make profits, not to serve the public.' Ram Gopal Varma also raised the question, "When no one cries over the prices of luxury cars, expensive buildings and branded clothes, then why cry over the prices of movie tickets? Is entertainment necessary? Is it more important than accommodation, food and clothing?" He believed that the ticket prices of Pushpa 2 are less than the prices of these necessities.
At the same time, Ram Gopal Varma also said that the makers of Pushpa 2: The Rule are proud to say that the film has already crossed the figure of advance ticket booking of more than Rs 100 crore globally. Also, the film has earned $2.5 million through pre-sales in the US. Pushpa 2: The Rule is a sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, which was released in 2021. The film stars Allu Arjun as red sandalwood smuggler Pushparaj, while Rashmika Mandanna will be seen as his wife Srivalli. Fahadh Faasil will be seen as Pushparaj's enemy Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in the film.
Overall, the excitement being seen around Pushpa 2 shows that the film has already taken a strong step towards its success. Although there are many opinions about increasing the ticket prices, Ram Gopal Varma's reasoning justifies the move, and the preferences of the audience have also changed now.
