During the investigation into Baba Siddiqui's murder, it has been revealed that Bollywood actor Salman Khan was also the target of these shooters. The Crime Branch said that the shooters had the intention of targeting Khan as well, but due to the tight security arrangements for the actor, they could not execute their plan. After failing to attack Salman, the shooters focused their attention on Baba Siddiqui and his son Zeeshan. This was admitted by the accused during his interrogation.

According to an India Today report, the shooters killed Baba Siddiqui on October 12, but Zeeshan somehow escaped as he had left his office a few minutes before the murder. According to sources, the shooters were given three targets, including former Bandra East MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui and Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who was receiving threats due to the black buck poaching case.

The report further said, "During the investigation, some statements and digital evidence have emerged, which indicate that Salman Khan was also the target of the shooters." When asked if the shooters had conducted a recce of the actor's house, the official said, "It seems they had reached the actor's house once, but there was tight security there. The actor travels in his car from inside, outsiders cannot reach him. Due to these challenges, the shooters changed their plan and attacked only Siddiqui."

Salman Khan's security was already under the Y+ category, but now his security has been increased even more, especially after threats from the Bishnoi gang. According to reports, police deployment has been increased drastically for him, and now around 50 to 60 policemen are deployed for his security, along with two escort vehicles, making his security equivalent to Z+ category. However, officially his security has not been put in the Z+ category.

The Mumbai Crime Branch recently named Anmol Bishnoi, who is the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as a wanted criminal under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). According to the police, the reason for the murder is said to be Siddiqui's close relationship with Salman Khan. Based on information provided by Indian agencies, Anmol has now been arrested in the US (California).
