Musician A.R. Rahman recently announced that he and his wife Saira Banu are separating. Both had spent time together as husband and wife for 29 years. Rahman himself shared this news on social media on November 19. He wrote, "We had hoped to be together for thirty years, but everything has an invisible end."
Earlier, on November 19, Saira Banu's lawyer Vandana Shah had released an official statement about the couple's separation. The statement said, "Saira has taken the difficult decision to separate from her husband, which was taken due to deep emotional tension in their relationship. Although there was deep love between the two, problems and difficulties had created a deep gulf between them, which was now impossible to cross." Saira Banu and A.R. Rahman got married in 1995 and now the couple is trying to come out of this difficult phase of their relationship.
