Varun Dhawan was the first choice for '12th Fail' not Vikrant Massey–Here's why he was replaced..

Did you know that Varun Dhawan was the first choice for '12th Fail'? Yes, you heard it right! Varun Dhawan's name was first revealed for the lead role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film, which is based on the inspirational story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from poverty to become an IPS officer. But then something happened that shocked everyone.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra himself revealed about this in the Zero Se Restart documentary. He said that while Varun's acting ability and screen presence were excellent, his look was not a perfect fit for the character. Vidhu Vinod Chopra believed that Varun's look would not suit the character of a village boy, and so he cast Vikrant Massey.

This decision proved to be absolutely correct. Vikrant Massey played the character of Manoj in such a way that the audience was completely lost in his acting. 12th Fail achieved tremendous success and received a lot of praise from the audience. The film also showcased the relationship between Manoj and Shraddha Joshi (Medha Shankar), who both together clear the IAS exams.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is gearing up for his upcoming film Baby John, which will release on December 25. It will be interesting to see how Varun's new avatar as a cop will turn out!
