Diljit Dosanjh clarifies controversial statement on live shows, Defends Punjab spelling amid criticism

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh made a statement during his show in Chandigarh on December 14, which shocked his fans. He said that he will not do live shows in India, as there are many flaws in the infrastructure here, and appealed to the authorities to provide better facilities. However, now Diljit has backtracked from his statement and clarified that he never said that he would not do shows in India.

Diljit Dosanjh released a new post regarding his comment, saying, "No. I said that there are venue issues in Chandigarh (CHD). So until I get the right venue, I am not going to do the next show in Chandigarh. That was it."

Earlier, during his concert, Diljit had said in Punjabi, "We do not have the right infrastructure for live shows here. It is an important source of income, and many people depend on it. I will make sure that happens next time, and until that happens, I will not do shows in India, that's for sure." Apart from this, Diljit Dosanjh recently faced criticism when he spelt Punjab as 'Punjab' in his tweet. After he was heavily trolled on social media, Diljit again posted, "If Punjab is spelt without the triangular flag emoji in a tweet, it is called a conspiracy. The triangular flag emoji was also missing in the Bengaluru tweet. If Punjab is spelt 'Punjab', it is called a conspiracy. Whether you spell it Punjab or Panjab, it will always be Punjab."

Diljit further clarified, "Panj Aab - which means five rivers. Congratulations to those who are conspiring about the English spelling of foreign languages. I will write in Punjabi in future... ." Taking aim at his critics, Diljit said, "I know you won't stop. Keep going. How many times do we have to do this to prove that we love India? Come up with something new, guys." Diljit's statements created quite a stir on social media, and he openly interacted with both his fans and critics, explaining his point in the right way.
