Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has once again come out in support of Telugu star Allu Arjun. Recently, he had criticised the arrest of Allu Arjun after the tragic stampede during the Hyderabad premiere of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' in which a female fan died. The incident took place at Sandhya theatre where a huge crowd had gathered to watch Allu Arjun. Now, Ram Gopal Varma has appealed to the actor to protest the arrest which he finds unjustified. He called it an incident which also happened during his film 'Kshana Kshanam' which drew a huge crowd for the late actress Sridevi.
Ram Gopal Varma recently defended Allu Arjun on his official X account (formerly Twitter) saying that no celebrity can be held responsible due to their immense popularity. He wrote, "Every star should protest the arrest of Allu Arjun because can it be a crime for a film star or a political star to be extremely popular?"
Verma referred to a similar incident during 'Kshana Kshanam' when three people were killed in a crowd of lakhs who had gathered to see Sridevi. He questioned, "When lakhs of people gathered for Sridevi and three people were killed during the shooting of my film 'Kshana Kshanam', will the Telangana police go to arrest Sridevi now?"
On December 12, 'Pushpa' star Allu Arjun was arrested, alleging that he and the theatre management did not inform the police about his visit, which led to a stampede and a woman's death. Arjun had to spend a night in Chanchalguda Central Jail and was first sent to 14-day judicial custody. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him interim bail for four weeks. After the incident, Allu Arjun promised to give Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased fan. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's father Allu Arvind met the injured kid, who is now on a ventilator, and assured all possible help to him.
