Guneet Monga, who won an award for her short documentary film 'The Elephant Whisperers' at the 2023 Oscars, is now going to make Indian cinema proud once again. Her new film 'Anuja' has been nominated in the 'Best Live-Action Short Film' category at the 2025 Oscars, in which she is attached as an executive producer. This is Guneet Monga's third Oscar nomination.
'Anuja' has been selected from 180 eligible entries and has now joined the 15 shortlisted films. The short film is directed by Adam J. Graves and Suchita Mattai, while it is co-produced by Hollywood star and writer Mindy Kaling. Guneet Monga says about the project, "Anuja is a highly personal story that traces the journey of two sisters and their process of maturing. The story of 'Anuja' revolves around a nine-year-old girl working in a garment factory located in Delhi. She gets a rare opportunity to study in a boarding school, but this forces her to make a tough decision that will determine not only her life but also the future of her family. The film stars Sajda Pathan (Anuja) and Anupriya Shanbag (Palak) in the lead roles, while other prominent actors include Naresh Bhosle, Gulshan Walia, Sushil Parwana, Sunita Bhadoria, Rudolfo Rajiv Hubert, Jugal Kishore and Pankaj Gupta.
