Guneet Monga, who won an Oscar for his short documentary film 'The Elephant Whisperers' at the 2023 Academy Awards, is once again going to make Indian cinema proud. His new film 'Anuja' has been nominated in the 'Best Live-Action Short Film' category for the 2025 Oscars. Now the film is set to stream on Netflix.

'Anuja' is the story of two sisters who move forward with hope even amidst the exploitation of society. The film features a 9-year-old orphan girl Anuja, who works in a factory with her 17-year-old sister Palak. Anuja leaves school to work and abandons her studies. After this a teacher comes to the factory and promises Anuja to study in a boarding school.

Priyanka Chopra and Anita Bhatia are attached to the film 'Anuja' as executive producers (EP). The film aims to spread awareness about the rights of working children and their upliftment. On the release of the film on Netflix, Guneet Monga Kapoor said, "'Anuja' is a bold story, made with a lot of heart."

He further added, "I am very happy and proud to be a part of this journey, which includes producers Mindy Kaling, Suchitra Mattai and Krishna Naik. Now this story has also got the support of Priyanka Chopra. I am also grateful to Netflix. This film should be on this platform. Now my story will reach people all over the world, as Netflix is available in 190 countries. In this way our story will get global recognition."

'Anuja' is not only a powerful story, but it also presents an inspiration for the weaker sections of the society. This film is an important step towards giving a new identity to Indian cinema at the international level.
