Aamir Khan and Sridevi have never done a film together, but it is their stardom that is promoting the debut theatrical release of their respective star kids Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor. The film is the rom-com drama ‘Loveyapa’ releasing on February 7. Both young actors have already had OTT debuts. Khushi first appeared in ‘The Archies’ which premiered on Netflix in November 2023. Junaid came in June 2024 with ‘Maharaj’ on the same streaming platform. Now they step up to the big screen with ‘Loveyapa’. And the grapevine is abuzz with how the film’s promotions are going.
“Had she been among us today, it is unlikely the great Sridevi would have done anything to help along her daughter’s career by stepping out to push ‘Loveyapa’. Sridevi was reticent. She would have been the shy but proud Mamma. A strong but silent supporter behind the scenes. And she would have been that way with Janhvi Kapoor too and quietly applauded her elder one’s rapid rise in Bollywood. But Aamir being Aamir is out and about and at almost every event for ‘Loveyapa’ as if he were promoting his own Bollywood debut,” said a trade source, tongue in cheek.
And it is true. Aamir was present for the film’s trailer launch and spoke emotionally about his deep connection to ‘Loveyapa’. The actor who set new highs for Bollywood in the past with blockbusters like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Lagan’ even accompanied Junaid and Khushi to the Bigg Boss finale. A Bollywood news site, taking note of Aamir’s overt eagerness to take ‘Loveyapa’ faster to the masses, said that it was not Junaid but his superstar father who was the more nervous between them. Aamir laughed off easily by saying, “I am Junaid’s father, hence a highly interested party.”
Well, good for Junaid and Khushi. Their film has already got a thumbs-up from Aamir. But once the curtain goes up on ‘Loveyapa’, the young co-stars will be facing the critics and audiences alone. God bless. Their pairing had people wishing that Aamir and Sridevi had done a film together. They did do a cover shoot for ‘Movie’ magazine. Aamir later confessed that he was just one film old and Sridevi was Bollywood’s first female superstar. He was her fan and was petrified she would recognize in two seconds that he loved her! “I was completely mesmerized seeing her beauty,” Aamir admitted.
