When I was launching Alia for the first time, I met her for the first time in my office when she came from school. When I launched these three, I had clearly told my team not to treat these three like a new star, but give them respect like big stars, so that they can also work in the same way as big stars do.

Karan Johar said, "I always felt that Alia would become a star, but could not imagine that she would become such an actress." Karan Johar further said that he always says that his emotional launch was 'Student of the Year', while his professional launch was 'Highway'. That film opened all the doors of Alia's acting.

Karan Johar also talked about the game changing film of his career. He said, "When I was working on the film 'My Name is Khan', I felt that this film was out of my scope. After 12 years I realized that I have really figured out how to direct and now I am a director."
