The Supreme Court on Monday reacted strongly to the obscene comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia on Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent'. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh expressed deep displeasure over the statement of Allahabadia and reprimanded him. The court asked many questions and also gave some instructions. However, Ranveer has also got some relief in this matter.
The court said, "Allahabadia had filth in his mind, which he spewed out on the YouTube show." "His words will make sisters, daughters, parents and society feel ashamed." The court also questioned, "What are the values of society? Do you have knowledge of these standards?" The court also said, "In the name of freedom of expression, no one can comment against the norms of society."
The Supreme Court told Ranveer Allahabadia that he will have to submit his passport to the police station and will not be able to travel abroad without permission. Also, he has been directed to cooperate with the police and investigating agencies. Meanwhile, no new episode of Ranveer's show will go on-air until the matter is completely resolved.
Further, the court said that if a new FIR is filed in this case, Ranveer will not be arrested. The Supreme Court also questioned the Center about pornographic content on YouTube and said that if the government is willing to take some steps, we will be happy, otherwise this area will be left as it is, which is being misused by YouTube channels.
