Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan has talked about her parents and her upbringing. Soha said that even though her family had a lot of wealth, her parents always kept her grounded. Soha said that her father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi always behaved as if the family had financial problems. He was always thinking about petrol and electricity prices.
Speaking to the QuizTalk podcast, Soha Ali Khan said that she had a great childhood, but her parents made sure that all her siblings understood the value of money. They always made sure that the lights were turned off and there was no wasteful expenditure.
Soha said that there was only one telephone in her house. Soha said in the conversation that it was very difficult to talk on that one phone. Often her sister Saba would sit near the phone, and her father would be near the phone all day. At night he would switch off the phone so that no one else could call. Soha also revealed that she used to get Rs 50 every year. Her father gave her the option to take Rs 500 now or keep getting Rs 50 every year. This way Soha learned the importance of saving money from her father. Her mother Sharmila Tagore also regularly sat with the cook to manage the family budget and keep track of expenses.
Soha said that she was raised with a lot of love in her childhood, but was always kept grounded. Soha also revealed that her family lived in a house opposite Sena Bhawan in Delhi. She had a wonderful childhood, but when her house was taken away from her, she realized how luxurious a life they were living.
