Social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, popularly known as "The Rebel Kid", is in the news once again. She recently unfollowed everyone from her Instagram account, which is a major move. The incident happened in the context of comedian Samay Raina's show "India's Got Talent".

Reddit users noticed that Apoorva, who previously followed around 1,500 accounts on Instagram, is now following no one. A few days before this, she also unfollowed her close friend Rida Tharana and content creator Sufi Matiwala, leading to speculations about her mental state and some kind of rift in her relationship with people close to her. Meanwhile, Apoorva has also been receiving online threats, sexual harassment and death threats. The controversy started when Apoorva responded to an inappropriate comment on the female anatomy of a contestant on "India's Got Talent". Though her response initially received support, the situation worsened when another controversy involved YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia.

When the videos from the show went viral on social media, she and Samay Raina faced criticism on social media. Their comments were termed vulgar and controversial, followed by Ranveer's viral statement which also created a furore and led to multiple complaints, FIRs and summons by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, which also involved Apoorva in the controversy. Netizens are now contemplating whether Apoorva's decision to unfollow everyone is a strategic move to avoid further criticism, or is it a personal response that she has taken after the backlash. However, Apoorva has not given any statement on this entire controversy yet.
