Standup comedian, lyricist and director Varun Grover has commented in a special way on Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent' and Ranveer Allahabadia's controversial statement. Varun satirized the whole situation and said that the people who earlier advised him not to talk about politics in his comedy show are now themselves in trouble.
Varun Grover shared a video of his performance on Twitter, in which he is seen jokingly saying, "There is no need to record any video, because this is the way of the comedy world, isn't it? This is new material, there is a whole process in it. We write new content for three-four months and then a one-hour show is made. Then we tour the whole of India with that show. When the tour is over, we record it, upload it on YouTube and then go to jail."
Varun then added, "There is a process. Don't interfere in the process... so please, don't record the video. I don't want to go to jail because of a 6 MB video on your phone. At least if I go to jail, the quality of the video should be high, I should get some respect." He then jokes, "I don't want to say that it's not my fault, it's Samay Raina's fault, because of a 6 MB video."
The incident came to light when Ranveer Allahabadia got into a controversy for asking an objectionable question on the show India's Got Latent. The question asked to a contestant on the show caused a lot of anger and after this the police started an investigation and several FIRs were registered against Ranveer and the show's host Samay Raina. Although the Supreme Court of India has granted Ranveer a temporary relief from arrest, the court has also criticized his statement.
