Mardaani 3 is the third installment of Yash Raj Films' Mardaani franchise. In this film, Rani Mukerji will once again be seen in the role of a strict police officer. Mardaani 3 was announced in 2024, but the pre-production process of the film is currently underway. During this, work is going on continuously on the test looks of some cast members of the film. At the same time, a new and dangerous villain is now being searched to carry forward the shooting of Mardaani 3.

According to a Midday report, the team of Mardaani 3 is looking for an actor to play the villain opposite Rani Mukerji. The film's director Abhiraj Minawala plans to start shooting for this police thriller film in June 2025. The Yash Raj Films team is working on pre-production, while screenplay and look tests are also being done.

Apart from this, the team has also selected some initial shooting locations of the film. Portions of the film will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi, and other locations in North India will be finalised in the coming weeks. In December 2024, Yash Raj Films shared a post on Instagram announcing Mardaani 3, stating that the Rani Mukerji-starrer will release in cinemas in 2026. The post read, "The wait is over! #RaniMukherjee is back as the tough Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. In cinemas 2026."

On the story of the film, Rani Mukerji said that Mardaani is a much-loved franchise and it is their responsibility to live up to the expectations of the audience. She also promised that they will try their best to make the film as much as the audience liked the previous installments.
