The tremors of the earthquake were felt around 10 pm, when celebs were gathering for the afterparty. According to media reports, people present there felt strong tremors of the earthquake. This earthquake was one of the nearly 40 earthquakes that have hit Southern California since the beginning of March.

Talking about the ceremony, For the first time in the history of Oscars, Hindi language was also used in this Oscar ceremony. Host Kenan O'Brien said a few words in Hindi. He said, "Those who are watching from India, I tell them, Namaste, it must be morning time there now, you people must be watching the Oscars with breakfast." Thus Kenan O'Brien became the first host to speak Hindi.
