These days the holy month of Ramadan is going on, but in the meantime a controversy has arisen in which Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami is facing criticism for not fasting. Now famous lyricist Javed Akhtar has also jumped into this controversy. Javed Akhtar has supported Mohammed Shami and advised him not to pay attention to this controversy.
Javed Akhtar gave his reaction on this matter on the social media site X and wrote, "Shami sahab, do not pay attention to the communal anarchists who are upset that you drank water on the cricket field on a hot afternoon in Dubai. They have nothing to do with this. You are part of the Indian team, which is making us proud. My best wishes to you and our team."
This controversy started when Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, who is the president of All India Muslim Jamaat, called Mohammed Shami a criminal for not fasting in Ramadan. Maulana said, "Shami has committed a crime by not fasting. He should not have done this. In the eyes of Shariat, he is a criminal and he will have to answer for this to God."
Maulana further said, "Fasting is a responsibility, which is mandatory for every healthy person. If a healthy man or woman does not fast, then he is a criminal. Mohammad Shami consumed water or any other drink during the match. People were watching him. If Shami was playing the match, it means that he was healthy. Despite this, he did not fast and drank water. This will send a wrong message."
It is being told that Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami was seen drinking water during the semi-final match of the Champions Trophy played against Australia in Dubai. Since then, controversy arose on this whole matter.
